Meet Tracy of Creme De La Gems!
Tell us a bit about yourself
Do I have to? LOL!
I am Tracy, a blessed mother of two sweet sons, Justin (17) and Aidan (6) and I am a step mother to our social college student, Taylor (19).
I grew up in Northern California and began dancing at the age of 7. My life was spent for the most part in a dance studio. Aside from dancing, I dabbled in photography, art, sewing and etched glass. At the age of 19, I moved down to Southern California to pursue a dancing career. I wanted to be a 'Fly Girl' on 'In Living Color." Remember that show? Oh, how fun would that have been? But God had other plans for me. I did not end up auditioning until a few years later (Enter: Disneyland - The Happiest Place On Earth).
When I was a young girl, I would tell my Father that when I grew up, I would marry an Opera singer. My dreams became reality when I married Dirk, a lyric baritone! Although he is as gifted as one might think as an Opera singer, he chose a different path and that is Musical Theater. Right now, he is playing 'Phantom' at a Southern California Dinner Theater. Dirk and I met at Disneyland, where else? :)
As far as my Jewelry, I began working with polymer clay just about 3 years ago (approx). My sister taught me the basics and the rest is history. Our Aunt Jana was a polymer clay artist, our Mother was a gifted sketch artist and seamstress and our Father was an Architect and sketch artist. Art is all in the genes.
We like spending our down time at Lego-land, Sea-World or the San Diego Wild Animal Park, or we go watch Daddy in his show. Since I am a swing in the show, I get to be on stage and have a good time too, that's always fun even though I can't sing a note (I lip sink "watermelon, watermelon," kwim?), lol! My favorite part is hearing Aidan's little giggle out in the audience.
What do you create and what inspires you?
I create polymer clay beads and pendants for children's boutique jewelry.
There is so much that inspires me, but because I have a demand for my colorful, whimsical creations and matches, I can't always create what I truly inspires me. I am very much inspired by gemstones, Thai silver and stamped artisan styles that are petite with a touch of romance. Who knows? Maybe one day I will create a line of jewelry incorporating those inspirations.
Share a favorite Christmas memory
Every Christmas was very special in our home. One special moment that I recall, is seeing Rudolph's Nose up high in the dark starry sky, when I was about 6 or 7 years old. Ask me if his nose was blinking?
I wish you Canela, and all of your readers a very special Christmas, and to remember The Birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ.
Thanks Tracy!!!
The eleventh goodie for the grand prize is this adorable necklace!!
Here are some of Tracy other fabulous designs! Each of her Polymer pieces are truly a Work of art! It is amazing the detail she can get on to such a tiny sculpture! Be sure to stop by her brand new website on Friday after Thanksgiving for a Black Friday sale!
