Meet Jen of MudHutt.....
Jen is a ceramic artist. She makes the most adorable decorative dishes and ornaments.
Tell us a bit about you and your Family
My husband and I just celebrated our 14th wedding anniversary (today Oct 22)... my gosh, has it been 14 years??? We have 2 beautiful children, our son Casey is 12 and our daughter Callie is 10.
What do you create and what inspires you?
I'm a self taught ceramic artist. Ive loved art since as far back as I can recall. I remember in the 2nd grade I learned how to draw "snoopy" sleeping on top of his doghouse and I drew that on EVERYTHING. Drove my mom NUTS! Then in 8th grade I mastered how to freehand the Rolling Stones logo.. you know... the lips with the tongue? Yeah, I drew it on EVERYTHING. lol! My love for ceramics started as a child when my aunt & uncle had a ceramic shop. Who knew I would grow up and open my own little "Paint-your-own-pottery" studio so many years later. I owned my pottery studio for the past 8 years, but just recently sold it at the end of the summer because my online sales were growing so fast I couldn't keep up with it all. I am the owner/artist for Studio J Company. This is my "real job". My hand painted pieces are sold in retail storefront and online boutiques across the country. http://www.studiojcompany.com/ - Everyday life inspires me. A word, a song or maybe something I see out my studio window. It's so fun to start with a squishy piece of clay and end up with a little piece of art that brings happiness to someone's life.
Share A favorite Christmas Memory?
Well... back in 1995, I was pregnant with my first child who wasn't due until January 13th, but on Christmas Eve we had some very scary complications and I was admitted to the hospital. I spent the next 3 days there.... I was terrified, as was my whole family, but everyone was so great... our whole family came to the hospital and we celebrated the holiday there... all together... including a wonderful new baby boy!
Thanks Jen!!!
